Permission and Release
with respect to audio and/or video recordings and text messages
I/We wish to make an audio and/or video recording and/or to write a text messages in the context of the exhibit titled “Let’s Talk! Canada’s Capital” and/or online at www.mosaika-sl.ca.
I/We hereby transfer any copyright I/we have in the recording/message to the NCC and waive all moral rights in respect of this recording /message.
I/We hereby give the NCC the unrestricted right to use the recording/message (along with my/our first name/s and my/our city/ies of residence or on its own) as it wishes in any media now or hereafter known including posting it on its website, incorporating it in one of its publications or in one of its productions (e.g. a show, a commercial) and playing it in public or broadcasting it on television or on the internet.
The NCC may edit the recording/message as it sees fit and may grant third parties acting for the NCC permissions in respect of the recording/message if it wishes.
The NCC may delete the recording/message if it prefers not to use it.
I/We hereby release and discharge the NCC from any claim arising out of or in connection with the use of the recording/message.
Privacy Notice
The personal information that you provide will only be used by the National Capital Commission to record/send a message in order to enrich the content of its exhibits, web sites, shows and/or commercials. The NCC intends to use some of the recordings/messages in the online component of the exhibit titled “Let’s Talk! Canada’s Capital” and to integrate some of the recordings/messages in the pre-show preceding the Sound and Light Show which is presented to the public on Parliament Hill. The information is protected under the Privacy Act. The information will be retained in the files of the NCC under the specific classes of records "Public Programming" (Record Number - CECM-M200), "Public Communications" (Standard Bank Number - PSU 914). You have the right to review and correct information about yourself and can be assured that it will not be used for unauthorized purposes.
Participants under 18
For individuals under the age of eighteen, please review the above terms and conditions with your parent or legal guardian to ensure both of you understand these terms and are comfortable with agreeing to them.
Approval criteria for videos and text messages
- Videos and text messages must not be anonymous. Users must provide their full name upon registration.
- Videos and text messages are open to all people, regardless of age, race, religion, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
- Hate, racism, homophobia, sexism or disparaging comments against any ethnicity, religion or age will not be published.
- Videos and text messages must be recorded or written in one of Canada’s two official languages (English or French). The use of other languages, with the exception of a few words, is not allowed.
- Videos and text messages must not support or denigrate any political, cultural or other type of organization.
- Videos and text messages with no link to the subject at hand will not be published.
- Videos and text messages must not contain personal attacks or defamatory content.
- People appearing in the videos must be properly attired.
- Ads of any form will not be allowed in videos and text messages. An ad is any form of publicity that attempts to sell a service or product or that invites readers to go to another website.
- The NCC reserves the right to make changes to text messages in order to correct spelling, grammatical or linguistic errors.
- The NCC reserves the right to delete the web application at any time without prior notice.
- The NCC reserves the right to modify the rules of conduct (etiquette) at any time without prior notice.
- The NCC reserves the right not to publish videos and text messages received from users.
- The NCC reminds the user that, by sending a video or text message, you authorize the NCC to publish it for an indefinite period of time. This includes the indexing of videos and text messages by a search engine on the Internet. Therefore, we suggest that you reflect on the consequences of the publication of your video or text message.
Videos and text messages selected as part of the prelude to Mosaika on Parliament Hill must, in addition, respect the following criteria:
- be a source of pride for Canadians;
- be inspiring and pertinent to the question at hand;
- have an element of uniqueness and creativity;
- be well presented and easy to understand;
- the NCC’s selection process will also be guided by its objective to have a final product which is representative of Canada in terms of language and region.
